Artist of the Season

Gina Pont

This winter we want to immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of Urban Sketching. If you are a lover of creativity and artistic expressions, you will surely be interested in discovering the beauty of Barcelona through the eyes of Gina Pont.

Gina Pont, graphic designer and winner of the image of the Festa Major de Gràcia 2023, has found in Urban Sketching a form of expression and connection with her environment. With the Absorb Canvas Pad de Phoenix Arts, Gina captures scenes with watercolors, capturing the essence of each place with her unique and lively stroke.

I am a graphic designer, I work in an advertising agency and I draw in my free time. Specifically, I am fascinated by Urban Sketching so once a week you will find me anywhere in Barcelona drawing live.

What is Urban Sketching?

Urban Sketching is a global community of artistSo they can be both professionals and beginners who get together to draw live what is in front of us. We can use any type of technique from watercolor to markers, pens, gouache, acrylic... each artistwhatever you feel most comfortable with. And once finished we share the drawings on social networks: @gina_pont

And you know what's best?

I really like this artistic style because It does not seek perfection but rather captures what we feel. at the moment we are drawing. For example, if there are many people, sometimes with four strokes we can convey this crowd without being necessary to draw each person.

Urban Sketching does not seek perfection, but rather to capture what we feel at the moment we are drawing.

Do you dare to draw? I will help you.

Every week I create new urban watercolors and although in this article you will find a careful selection of the ones I like the most, I sell many others on art.ginapont.com. I encourage you to collect them and why not, give them as gifts!.

And if you have been seduced by Urban Sketching and are left wanting more: I teach painting and drawing workshops! If you like art, I invite you to attend my workshops. As easy as contact me and we agreed on the day. I will tell you tips and tricks about Urban Sketching and sometimes I even give away new artistic materials.

See you drawing! 😉
