Artist of the Season

Clara Rival

With the arrival of Spring we receive, like every quarter, a new Artista from The Station. On this occasion we welcome Clara Rival, Argentine painter, from Buenos Aires by birth, resident in Barcelona, although tomorrow you can find her in any other city on any other continent.

I question the limits we have as spectators.

I am a artistOriginally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In recent years I lived in Mexico, France and Spain.

This somewhat nomadic lifestyle greatly influences my painting since my landscapes arise from a combination of memories of places. I build my universe by combining places I want to find with invented memories. The natural world coexists with the fantastic. At first glance it seems to be a single landscape, but perhaps there are many. Lush colors, unreal plants, stairs and portals that promise to take us to the other side.

I wonder about the limits we have as spectators. How much do we stop to observe? How many things do we overlook? We look at things simultaneously constantly. How many do we really look at? To observe you have to surrender; Search new states. In the foreground, the jungle, the exaggerated, the fluorescent. Minutes later, new details, patterns, directions appear, an invitation to investigate the mystery of things, the routes that must be taken to reach any destination. Let's search. Perhaps the fantastic is found in our way of seeing things.
