Francisco José Girón – Dresu

Francisco José Girón – Dresu

Francisco José Girón Polo, or, as he likes to be called artistically, Dresu, is a plastic artist from La Mancha born in Ciudad Real, specifically in the town of Pedro Muñoz, Spain.

At 31 years of age, Dresu is an established and recognized painter, based on national and international awards in various competitions. He stands out in his beginnings thanks to his love for urban art, where he developed through mural expression and graffiti, just like our dear friend.Álvaro Rodrigo, Artist of the Fall 2022 Station.

I wish that my toxic relationship with painting continues

Dresu tells us that his work is the result of the inspiration generated by the experiences lived during his travels, a great source of creativity for many artists. As well as from his childhood and youth experiences among tools and construction objects in his father's workshop. Our painter, muralist, and graphic designer defines himself as a person very much in touch with rural society and involved in its struggles. All of this is conveyed in his expressionist landscapes, practically untouched by technology and modern elements, full of cultivated lands and skies, to which he gives special importance in his work.

Francisco José explains that he does not rule out venturing into the world of sculpture. We are eager to see his upcoming works. However, just as we have read from him inan interview at PAC, Contemporary Art platform, their relationship with art will become a little less toxic than it was before the clay. We would love to know if the naturalness of working with mud, earth, and water will affect the level of toxicity in their relationship with art…

Creative process of the mural 'Sowing Health' in Artà

María Montiel (Venezuela b. 1981) arrived in Spain in 2007 to study Textile Design. She describes herself as "an artist with a tropical soul in Mediterranean land."

Now based in Barcelona in the vibrant Gràcia neighborhood, Maria divides her time between motherhood and painting. With a grandfather who was an art collector and parents who were architects, she developed an artistic soul from an early age.

She draws inspiration from her memories, her dad's orchid garden, and her travels. The jungle of Latin America, with its bright colors and rich textures, blooms in her organic and colorful illustrations. María uses among her materials, paints mixed by herself from the most interesting artistic pigments to create imaginative worlds full of warmth and magic, aimed at spreading joy to everyone.
